Point-of-Sale and Card Payment Strategy Consultant
- Led team charged with reinventing the Point-of-Sale (POS) environment for 10,000+ sites across company operated, marketer and dealer channels of trade
- Analyzed the current POS and telecommunications environment, identified shortcomings and opportunities for improvement
- Prepared detailed financial models of all alternatives, including a comprehensive Decision and Risk Analysis to quantify the range of likely financial outcomes for ConocoPhillips and its marketers
- Identified the Electronic Payment Server (EPS) with managed broadband service as the preferred approach based on cost, functionality, support of marketing programs, ability to provide POS independence and adherence to emerging industry standards

BP (January 2003 – January 2006) US Business Information Manager & Global Site Systems Program Manager
- Responsible for all IT delivery in support of 1,200 company operated and 600 franchise BP and ARCO retail sites for the US Convenience Operations business unit (USCO)
- Member of the USCO Leadership Team reporting to the Senior Vice President of US retail operations
- Represented the US in selecting SAP Retail as the common global financial and merchandising application for approximately 5,000 company operated retail locations.
- Led the global program to deliver a common point-of-sale and back office application and site hardware for all 7,000 company operated and franchise BP sites worldwide:
- Managed a team of eight (8) employees and dozens of supplier and contracted resources from around the world to successfully plan and deliver the two year, $16 million project
- Delivered dramatically improved site systems functionality to increase gross margin, improve reliability, and reduce site system purchase costs by 50%+ over legacy systems
- Implemented pilots in Germany and the US, and planned rollout to sites in Portugal, US, Germany, Australia and New Zealand
- When fully deployed, will consolidate 55 POS and 12 back office systems to one application set with common hardware, software and support processes
- Led the program to standardize credit card processing across all 11,00 company operated, franchise, dealer and jobber locations in the US through an innovative approach known as Electronic Payment Server (EPS) which separates card processing from the POS application. Rollout began in late 2005.

- Managed all point-of-sale, back office and headquarters systems in support of 300 franchised White Hen Pantry locations and approximately 800 company operated Clark sites using the Retalix StorePoint suite of applications
- Led the IS team in the planning of a $20 million project to replace the point-of-sale and back office business processes and systems for the Clark operation
- Facilitated cross-functional assessment sessions to evaluate the organization’s business processes and system tools. Identified opportunities to increase revenues and decrease costs through automation, process re-engineering and improved access to data.

- Managed all phases of the development of an integrated web site and content management system for Eli-Lilly to support the introduction of a new pharmaceutical. The application technologies included VB, ASP, XML and SQL. The six-month effort spanned the initial proposal, development, testing, and implementation of the site and application.

- Developed and successfully executed the plan to implement a centralized price book, POS scanning and category management reporting for approximately 60 convenience stores in El Paso, Texas using PDI's pricebook system and Verifone and Wayne POS devices

- Prepared an analysis and comparison of three prominent convenience/petroleum back office and host systems that Amoco was considering (Radiant, PDI and TSW!)
Consultant, CNA Insurance (March 1998 – December 2000)
- Managed the initial phases of a $2 million project to integrate a new life insurance company into approximately 30 applications company-wide within CNA. Developed the Project Charter, Statement of Work, Roles and Responsibilities, Risk Assessment, Budget, Project Plan, Requirements, Change Control, and Status Report processes.
- Managed the development of a new disability claims processing system, including planning and overseeing development, architecture design, interface development, training, testing, deployment and communications activities. The application was written in VB and utilized MTS and an Oracle database.
- Coordinated the desktop and laptop conversion of 750+ user systems in over 20 locations to CNA’s newer Windows NT desktop and laptop environment, including budget management, scheduling, project communications and support processes
- Managed the migration of 70 applications to a centrally managed and distributed approach using Microsoft’s SMS technology
Amoco Corporation (June 1991 – March 1998)
Business Systems Manager, Split Second Business Unit (September 1997 – March 1998)
- Managed the systems efforts in support of Amoco’s innovative retail initiative.
- Conceived and implemented a detailed food service margin analysis program using Oracle data warehouse and PDI information
- Managed the development and implementation of a multi-vendor franchise system solution and coordinated its implementation in Amoco’s first franchisee location in Atlanta. The POS platform utilized was Verifone Ruby interfaced to the TSW! back office system for site maintained item-level inventory management.

- Managed the team responsible for all store-level and consolidated management systems for the company’s 400+ retail outlets, including:
- PDI back office and host systems for store accounting and pricebook support
- JD Edward financial system

- Identified business requirements and system selection criteria for Amoco’s Next Generation POS/Back Office selection process, participated in the creation a comprehensive Request for Information (RFI) and analyzed vendor responses
- Coordinated all aspects of the back office system implementation effort including business process mapping, requirements definition, custom development, testing, and installation support.

- Worked closely with internal clients from the operations, financial, marketing, and technical groups to assess business needs and implement solutions in support of Amoco's initial Split Second concept. Numerous advanced automation concepts were piloted, including item-level inventory management, wholesaler EDI for item maintenance and store invoices, use of handheld scanners for receiving/price verification/inventory, and assorted POS and back office device interfaces. The applications utilized included MSI's PC-based point-of-sale system, a proprietary store back office system, XcelleNet, JDA pricebook and centralized marketing system, and JD Edward financials.
