An OA be designed to address each of the five critical success factors (strategy, facility, information systems, infrastructure and a method of operation) or just one factor. Regardless of the scope of the OA, our process normally involves three Phases.

The following are illustrative of the elements of a marketing / merchandising OA:

Phase 1 - Pre Visit

  • Review your existing strategy and marketplace positioning

    Phase 2 - On-Site Review

  • Visit your location(s)
  • Meet with the appropriate personnel
  • Observe and critique current practices and procedures
  • Tour the competition in each selected location's trading area

    Phase 3 - Documentation

  • Analysis of the data
  • Report of on-site findings
  • Recommend a course of action

    Phase 4 – Implementation (optional)

  • Develop detailed action plan and timetable
  • Agree on roles and accountabilities
